Kenya Poverty Action

About Us

We support innovative, community-driven initiatives that aim to tackle poverty and promote sustainable development. Our funding opportunities empower organizations and individuals to implement impactful solutions that drive long-term change.

About KPA

Kenya Poverty Action (KPA) is a UK-registered charity (Charity No. 1209449) dedicated to dismantling poverty in Kenya by empowering the people most affected by it. We fund and support locally-led, community-driven solutions that deliver long-term impact in rural, underserved, and climate-vulnerable regions.

We believe that poverty is not a lack of potential—it’s a lack of access. From drought-hit farms to informal settlements, we work with Kenya’s grassroots heroes, women, youth, and local changemakers, to ignite progress from the inside out.

Our Mission

To eliminate poverty in all its forms across Kenya through sustainable solutions and empowerment.

Our Vision

A Kenya where every individual has access to resources, opportunities, and support to succeed and lead a dignified life.

Why KENYA

KPA was born from a shared dream; a Kenya where every person has the chance to write their own story. We’re a team of believers, some of us grew up in these very communities, and others came from afar, drawn by a mission to listen, learn, and lift each other up. We partner with local leaders, grassroots organizations, and everyday change-makers who know their communities best. Together, we’re building something real—systems that empower, not just patch things up. Whether it’s helping a farmer turn her harvest into a business, giving a child a safe place to learn, or ensuring a family has clean water, our work is about planting seeds for a future that belongs to everyone.

In 2022, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics reported that 39.8% of Kenyans lived below the poverty line—a number that’s more than just data to us. It’s a call to action. We saw how the ripples of COVID-19, climate change, and deep-rooted inequalities were washing away hope for millions, especially in Kenya’s rural heartlands. Families were losing access to basics like clean water, healthcare, and education, while unpredictable floods and droughts made survival even harder. Yet, in these same communities, we also saw something extraordinary: strength. Women organizing to support each other. Youth dreaming of a better tomorrow. Children laughing despite the odds. That’s when we knew we had to act—not with handouts, but with hands held together.
