Kenya Poverty Action

Why KPA

Poverty in Kenya is not inevitable. It’s unjust—and we’re here to change that.

We empower Kenya’s most overlooked communities to lead their own transformation out of poverty. At Kenya Poverty Action (KPA), we don’t just respond to poverty—we challenge its very structure. We invest in local changemakers, support grassroots innovation, and fund community-driven initiatives that tackle the root causes of inequality across Kenya’s rural and marginalized areas. Our model goes beyond aid. We build systems that transfer power to the people—supporting solutions born within the community, guided by their wisdom, and led by their ambition.

Poverty in Numbers:

0
%
of Kenyans live below the national poverty line. That’s nearly 1 in 2 people lacking basic needs like food, clean water, and shelter.
0
+ million
Kenyans survive on less than €2 a day. Even minor economic shocks—like illness, drought, or job loss—can devastate entire families
0
million
children in Kenya are out of school. Without education, the cycle of poverty continues across generations.
0
%
of youth are unemployed or underemployed. Talent and ambition are wasted because of a system that doesn’t offer equal chances.

Why We Exist

At Kenya Poverty Action (KPA), we exist because many Kenyans are locked out of progress—not by a lack of potential, but by systems that deny them access to opportunities. We’re here to give the marginalized a fair chance in life. We focus on the people most affected by poverty—women, youth, and marginalized communities—because they have the power to lead change, they don’t need saving, they need support, solidarity, and investment.

What Happens When We Invest in People?

📚 Communities Become Educated
When we support education and digital literacy, entire communities become empowered to solve their own problems.

🌾 Families Have Enough to Eat
Through sustainable farming and food security programs, we reduce hunger and malnutrition—especially in rural and climate-affected areas.

💧 Health and Dignity Improve
Access to clean water, mental health support, and healthcare creates healthier, safer families and stronger local economies.

🌍 The Future is Greener
With climate-smart practices and community resilience training, vulnerable communities become climate champions.

💼 Women and Youth Drive Local Economies
Entrepreneurship and vocational training turn forgotten communities into hubs of innovation, independence, and opportunity.

Investing in Communities is the Smart Thing to Do—And the Right Thing to Do.

When we invest in the people who’ve been sidelined by poverty, they reinvest in their families, their neighborhoods, and their future.
That’s how real change happens—from the ground up.

💡 “Poverty is not a personal failure. It’s a policy failure. And it can be corrected.”
